Notice on the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration, Chi Lin Nunnery

The Birthday of Sakyamuni Buddha, founder of Buddhism, falls on the eighth day of the fourth moon of the Lunar calendar. To celebrate this joyous occasion, Chi Lin has made the following arrangement:

Laudation to the Buddhas: 7th May (Saturday) 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Bathing the Buddha: 8th May (Sunday) and 9th May (Monday), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Grand Offering before the Buddha: 8th May (Sunday) 9:35 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Members of the public are welcome to join the ceremonies in an orderly manner. Please follow the following anti-epidemic measures when entering the Chi Lin premises:

1.  In accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation, they should comply with the LeaveHomeSafe and Vaccine Pass requirements (those aged 18 or above should have received two doses of covid19 vaccines, those aged 12 to 17 who have received their first dose, after a period of six months, should receive a second dose. Exempted persons and special groups should show relevant proof). For details, please visit the following Government website:

2.  Check body temperature, clean the hands with hand sanitizer and wear a mask all the time;

3.  Persons not feeling well or with upper respiratory infection symptoms should not enter Chi Lin’s premises;

4.  Food and drink are not allowed within Chi Lin’s premises;

5.  Please maintain safe social distancing;

6.  Please follow our staff’s direction en route to bathe the Buddha.

Chi Lin will also arrange for Bathing the Buddha online. The faithful and the public are encouraged to perform the rite at home. They will also receive boundless merits.
