Chinese celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the eighth month of Chinese Lunar calendar. It is called the Mid-autumn Festival because the 15th day is the middle of a month, and the eighth lunar month is in the middle of autumn. In ancient China, people would worship the moon or hold a feast in celebration of the year’s harvest. In the Tang Dynasty, it evolved to become a time for family and friends to gather and reunite. The festival is also called Reunion Festival.
During this day, family and friends would come together and enjoy a good time with mooncakes. Chi Lin has partnered with Kee Wah Bakery and introduced 7 flavours of vegan mooncakes in celebration of the festival. All the donations and net proceeds will be contributed to support and promote Chi Lin’s cultural and education work.
